Scotland + around the world
Events in 2021

At the Countdown Summit in October 2021, we’ll share a blueprint for a beautiful net-zero future with 1,200 leaders in Edinburgh, Scotland. This plan – alongside inspiring stories of local action – will be further amplified by hundreds of TEDx Countdown events around the world.

Countdown Summit

October 12–15, 2021 | Edinburgh, Scotland

Four days of talks, collaboration and commitments to action – commitments that we can learn from, build on, and track together. The goal is action from everyone: nations, cities, companies and citizens.

We’ll gather people from around the world and across disciplines: mayors and local officials, policy-makers, business leaders, indigenous leaders, scientists, philanthropists, artists, youth activists, and key influencers. They’ll share their boldest, wisest initiatives about what we can collectively do. Participants will attend largely by invitation, but if you think you should be there, send us a note.

Here's what you can expect at the Countdown Summit:

  • A four day program

Ten sessions of mainstage speakers, interviews and debates.

  • Breakout sessions

Dive deeper into the five questions and the solutions shared with speakers, take masterclasses on specific areas of interest, or work alongside your peers in a small-group session.

  • Meaningful connections

From impromptu encounters to inspired conversations over dinner, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect across silos – to meet, share and learn.

Our location: Edinburgh, Scotland

The Countdown Summit will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, at the Edinburgh International Conference Center, which has hosted several TEDGlobal and TEDSummit events in the past. Its beautiful main theatre, foyer and vast spaces are the central hub of the Countdown Summit. The conference center boasts enough space and flexibility for exhibits, simulcast lounges, networking spaces, and more.

Located about 380 miles north of London, Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland. It has a charming old town that is one of the best-preserved European medieval cities, and its cultural life is vibrant and far-reaching.

Scotland will also be hosting the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow November 1-12, 2021.
